Wrapping up 2023 with a bow!

As we wrap up this incredible year I wanted to share my gratitude for all the amazing things that have happened to me in 2023.

At the beginning of this year, my husband and I decided to take our mental and physical health more seriously so I made a plan to cook healthy homemade meals as much as possible. This included baking bread, making salad dressings, and everything from scratch. This way I knew what was in the foods we were eating and I knew they were good for our bodies. I have tried so many new recipes mostly found on Pinterest so I created a couple of food boards that I think you will like!! I’ve linked them below…

I also started working out 3-5 days each week and have felt my body grow muscle, tone and shape. I have worked with two different personal trainers and learned a ton about my body, I never knew anything about working out and I am so glad I decided to give it a shot. It is now part of my lifestyle and I am so grateful I got out of my comfort zone and still I try new things every week.

PRO TIP- do what makes YOU feel good, and listen to your body, this is the most important thing. If you feel like going for a walk or taking a rest day, do it! If you feel like you can push yourself harder, lift heavier or do more reps, do it!!

I am not close to being perfect but I am a lot farther than I was last year at this time. Determination and consistency are the keys to achieving goals!!

I also spent a huge part of this year diving deep into manifestations, studying the laws of the universe and journaling, I found an amazing podcaster who I listen to every week and she has changed my life! Her name is Mikayla Jai, be sure to check her out, she makes manifestations so simple and easy to follow.

I started out nannying this adorable little girl Ellie this year, but things didn’t work out - for a reason! Even though I was sad to leave my nanny position, I decided to jump in feet first and build Design Dreams. This year I have made over $12,000 with my company alone and I know that doesn’t seem like much but from the first year I started my business, earnings have gone up 1,366% so it’s safe to say, I am proud of myself and what I have accomplished so far!

This was also the first year we became landlords, we rented out the home we purchased back in BC. This was a big step for me at 25 years old especially in this housing market. I also manifested $25,000 our tenant sent us the full amount for the year!

We also decided to move out to Calgary at the end of July and rent a place out here for a year and spend the year scoping out all the best neighbourhoods and trying to figure out where we want to buy next!!

This led me to meet an amazing realtor who has hired me for multiple staging consults with her clients, life works in funny ways!

My best friend got engaged so we started planning her wedding and my two closest girlfriends also had babies!! I feel like I’m next but honestly, Design Dreams is my baby and is taking up a HUGE amount of time, even though days vary, some days I am in my office, filling away, writing emails, and prepping for the upcoming week, then I spend some time food prepping and cleaning the house. Other days I’m out and about working for 12 hours straight, but that’s another thing that I love, no two days are the same!

I also had an old friend reach out to me and we set up a coffee date, she had recently started with a new Short-term Rental agency that needed a new designer, so I have been running Design Dreams alongside this amazing company and loving it!! The freedom of creativity this job allows is incredible, I can build my vision of the space with no kickback.

Another thing I am SO grateful for this year is all the clients I have worked with have been amazing, many even turned out to be good friends of mine which is so exciting! Another reason why I love this job, I am free to say yes or no to anything, I can decide which route I want to take each day.

I have had the chance to work with about 20 clients so far, each project completely different. I’ve learned more this year than any other year in the past. Running a business is no joke, you have to take care of everything, admin, reaching out to clients, cold calls, door knocking, consultations, sourcing products, communicating with vendors and driving! I have never driven so much in my life, 6,500 KMS in 2.5 months!!

It’s also nice in a way because I get to see all the gorgeous neighbourhoods in and around Calgary, I staged one home in Bearspaw (on the way to Cochrane) an enormous mansion with 7 bedrooms, a gorgeous property with an amazing view of the mountains. I had no idea this community even existed and now it’s a long-term goal I get to set for the future, to live in Bearspaw.

Anyways, that’s a wrap for 2023!!

I am so grateful for this year and the incredible things it has brought, and the people I have met. Moving to Calgary was the best decision I have ever made and we are going to be here for the next 10-20 years for sure.

There are so many new and exciting things coming for 2024 already and I cannot wait to share them with you guys, stay tuned and have a

MERRY CHRISTMAS and the HAPPIEST NEW YEAR <3

Love you all, thanks for reading!!
